Reference Carbon Footprints for Common Garment Types
Illustrative Product Carbon Footprint (kgCO₂eq) for reference garments, calculated with our open calculator using Higg MSI v3.7 + Ecoinvent v3.9 + IPCC AR6 GWP100 + BPDB 2024 grid factor (0.61 kgCO₂/kWh). Knit cotton T-shirt: 3.2 kgCO₂eq. Denim jeans: 11.8 kgCO₂eq. Polyester polo: 5.6 kgCO₂eq. These are worked examples for a reference bill of materials, not measured factory data; a measured benchmark will follow the survey.
